Mr. Ripani is Senior Counsel and Chair of the Complex Commercial Practice at Handler Thayer, LLP focusing on complex commercial litigation. He has a unique blend of legal and business experience as a lawyer and a Certified Public Accountant representing public and private corporations in order to develop creative business solutions.
Mr. Ripani also is a Certified Public Accountant and a Certified Fraud Examiner. His current areas of practice include:

He is experienced in handling all types of complex commercial litigation in federal and state trial and appellate courts and the United States Tax Court. He proactively develops policies and procedures that minimize risk and reduce the likelihood of lawsuits. Mr. Ripani has counseled clients on: administrative law, business torts, contract law, director and officer liability, employment law, environmental law, fiduciary duty, personal injury plaintiff and defense, product liability, real estate and toxic tort.
Prior to becoming an attorney, Mr. Ripani was an auditor for an international public accounting firm where he tested financial statement balances and evaluated the financial statements for appropriate disclosures under applicable accounting principles and SEC regulations. He also tested systems of internal accounting controls and developed recommendations for improvement of those systems.
Mr. Ripani attended the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana College of Commerce and Business Administration where he graduated with high honors receiving his Bachelors of Science in Accountancy. He then graduated with honors from IIT Chicago – Kent College of Law. where he earned his Juris Doctor. He was also a member of the Kent Law Review and won the American Indian Law Review national writing competition.
He is very active in the community. He is currently the Communications Director and Steering Committee Member for the St. Isaac Jogues Men’s Group. Previously, he was a Trustee for the Village of Hinsdale, member of the Village of Hinsdale Zoning Board of Appeals and Village of LaGrange Economic Development Advisory Commission, member of the Hinsdale Central High School Reading Rocks Committee, Assistant Cubmaster and Den Leader for Hinsdale Cub Scout Pack 10, Committee Chair and Merit Badge Counselor for Hinsdale Boy Scout Troop 10, Head Coach for Hinsdale American Youth Soccer Organization girls and boys teams and an advisor for Junior Achievement of Chicago.
Mr. Ripani is a member of the Chicago Bar Association Judicial Evaluation Committee, Illinois CPA Society and Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.
