Mr. Even is an Senior Tax Associate in the Advanced Planning Group at Handler Thayer. He specializes in tax, estate planning, business structuring, tax controversies, and structuring commercial and financial transactions.
He has experience as a litigation partner in an AV-rated national law firm defending clients in state courts; structuring federal tax aspects of international outbound transactions with a Big Four Accounting firm; and tax controversy experience administering a law school tax clinic and teaching Tax Practice and Procedures. In these capacities he has successfully engaged in estate planning and entity structuring for high net worth individuals, achieved favorable results from the Internal Revenue Service in numerous federal income tax controversies, obtained defense verdicts and favorable settlements in civil litigation, and minimized the tax impact of outbound transactions involving numerous foreign countries.
Mr. Even has an LL.M. in Taxation from New York University, a J.D. from St. Thomas University School of Law, and a B.B.A. from the University of Iowa. Mr. Even is licensed to practice in Florida, Illinois, and Texas and the U.S. Tax Court.
