Chad Voss is an Associate in the Advanced Planning & Family Office Practice Group at Handler Thayer, LLP. His experience includes aviation and rail finance representing large companies and financial institutions by setting up sales, leasing and lending structures, performing tax analysis, negotiating legal points and drafting relevant documents.
His experience also includes income tax compliance, estate planning, international and domestic tax planning and tax controversy work. Mr. Voss has also represented banks, lessors and other financiers in transportation equipment finance transactions including leases, mortgages, securitizations and export credit financings. He also has experience representing large international companies and high-net-worth individuals in multimillion dollar aircraft transactions by analyzing tax ramifications of aircraft delivery location and relevant leasing activities, eligibility for bonus depreciation, potential deduction disallowance for aircraft expenses, active/passive loss issues, FAA and insurance issues.
Mr. Voss is a graduate of the University of Missouri-Kansas City where he earned his Master of Science degree in Accounting with an emphasis in taxation and his Master of Laws degree in Taxation from the university’s School of Law. Prior to receiving his B.S. and LL.M. he earned his Juris Doctorate from the University of Missouri at Columbia School of Law where he served as Associate Editor of the Missouri Law Review. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, summa cum laude, also at the University of Missouri.
Mr. Voss also served as an adjunct professor in the Department of Accountancy at the University of Missouri-Kansas City where he taught introductory and advanced courses in federal income tax, estate and gift tax and personal financial planning. He was named an Arthur Mag Graduate Fellow.
