Introduction

Ms. Durachta is an Associate in the Advanced Planning & Family Office Group at Handler Thayer, LLP. Her practice focuses on drafting and implementing estate planning and wealth transfer strategies, as well as representing fiduciaries in trust and estate administration. She also has significant experience representing clients in both disabled and decedent probate estates in Cook County and its collar counties. Ms. Durachta tailors her approach to her client’s needs and interests; understanding that there is no “one size fits all” method.

Ms. Durachta also has a philanthropic side. In addition to private practice, she participates as a volunteer attorney for the Wills for Heroes Foundation which provides essential estate planning documents to our nation’s veterans and first responders. Additionally, she previously created and spearheaded a similar philanthropic event, which reached veterans and first responders in the local community.

Ms. Durachta received her Juris Doctor Degree and Juris Doctor Certificate in Alternative Means of Dispute Resolution from The University of Illinois at Chicago Law School. During her tenure at UIC Law, she was an active participant in the Trial Advocacy and Dispute Resolution Honors Board and Council. In addition, she received the Top-Grade Award in Federal Income Taxation. Upon graduation, she was nationally recognized and selected to become a member of The Order of Barristers based on excellence in oral advocacy and brief writing.

Ms. Durachta has remained an active alumna of her alma mater, UIC. Since earning her J.D., she has become an adjunct faculty member of UIC, coaching student teams in the Trial Advocacy and Dispute Resolution program. She prides herself in the success of her teams and enjoys helping students become better advocates and future attorneys.
