Ms. Norton is an Associate in the Advanced Planning and Family Office Practice Group at Handler Thayer, LLP. She practices primarily in estate planning, estate and trust administration, estate and gift taxation, and probate law.
Prior to joining Handler Thayer, Ms. Norton was an associate at a Chicago-area firm focusing on planning and litigation for individuals and businesses, where she concentrated on estate and tax planning for high net worth individuals, including charitable planning and private foundations, estate and trust administration, and probate law. There she also attended court hearings, assisted with trust litigation, and oversaw all matters related to estate and trust administration. While in law school, Ms. Norton clerked for a tax, estate planning, and asset protection firm in Florida specializing in planning for high net worth individuals. She also participated in the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program, preparing tax returns for low income, elderly, and disabled taxpayers.
Ms. Norton earned a Master of Laws in Taxation degree with a concentration in estate planning from the Boston University School of Law. She earned a Juris Doctor degree from Stetson University College of Law and received the William F. Blews Pro Bono Service Award for performing at least twice the required number of pro bono hours for graduation. Ms. Norton earned a Master of Business Administration from Stetson University Graduate College of Business. She graduated cum laude from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics.
Ms. Norton is licensed to practice law in both Illinois and Florida. She is a member of the American Bar Association, Chicago Bar Association, Illinois State Bar Association, and the Florida Bar.
